Four parties agree to hold election by May 29

KATHMANDU , FEB 11 -

Major four political parties have nearly reached a conclusion to form an election government .

The parties have agreed to let the independent candidate to lead the election government putting forth a condition of holding election by May 29, sources confirmed.

Emerging from the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said positive discussions were held to form election government under the leadership of independent candidate. He claimed that the parties have nearly reached to the agreement.

The meeting was held at the office of Army Integration Special Committee in New Baneshwor on Monday morning.

Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Sitaula said the decision will be finalised following a meeting with President Ram Baran Yadav this evening.

President Yadav on Saturday had urged the political parties to forge consensus or to give alternatives within two days. The leaders are due to meet the president at 5 this evening.

A formal meeting of the ruling and opposition parties was held today after a long time.

Earlier, UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had proposed to form election government under the leadership of incumbent Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, the NC and the CPN-UML who were claiming for NC President Sushil Koirala's leadership in the government have also agreed to discuss other alternatives.
