NC puts off protest programme
RUKUM, JAN 08 -
Nepali Congress , Rukum , which has been on agitation against the murder of its Duligaun Village Committee President Kabiram Khatry for the past one week, has put off its all protest programme.
Issuing a press release, NC Rukum President Man Bahadur Nepali informed that all the protest programmes have been put off from Tuesday onwards so as to focus it in the Capital.
The party had come up with protest s after its cadre Khatri was found dead in the Ramri forest of Duli VDC-5 on December 31.
The district-centric protest programme has been adjourned keeping into account the victim family's sensitivity and problem of livelihood, said NC Rukum sources.
President Nepali said the district will coordinate with the NC central office and devise protest programme.
The demands put forth by the NC, Rukum include end to murder based on ideology, protection of lives and properties of people, taking action against murder ers, formation of high-level judicial probe committee, declaring Khatri a martyr and arrangement of compensation for victim family.
NC, Rukum has claimed that Khatry was killed at the directive of ruling Unified CPN (Maoist). However, the UCPN (Maoist) has refuted the NC claim of its involvement in the murder .
