Shiva Sena cadres torch vehicle

Cadres of the Rastriya Shiva Sena Party have torched a taxi kept in a parking lot in the Capital on Monday morning. They set the cab ablaze, saying that it did not abide by their previously announced nationwide strike. The cab (Ba 1 Ja 4994) was parked in front of a college in Basundhara, Kathmandu.
Taxi driver Purna Bahadur Shrestha of Gothapani-7, Ramechhap, who was apparently inside the vehicle, was critically injured after the group of around six Shiva Sena cadres set the taxi on fire by spraying kerosene. A temporary resident of Basundhara, Shrestha was consequently admitted to the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. The party cadres also chanted slogan demanding that Poush 27 be declared as the national unity day and public holiday.
The party had announced nationwide strike on January 7 and 8, demanding the government to maintain harmony among various caste groups in the country.
Similarly, in another incident, the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, arrested Sanjiv Kumar Bohara from Dhumbarahi on Monday. Bohara, a permanent resident of Biratnagar, along with other party cadres, was vandalising a micro bus. Police said investigation into the matter is under way.
