Gagan challenges Dahal, Bhattarai for election battle
DHANKUTA, DEC 28 - Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee member Gagan Thapa has challenged UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai to come to the election battleground.
The NC youth leader claimed that Dahal and Bhattarai hatched a conspiracy to avert election s as they could not muster courage to compete with him and other young leaders of his party. He has challenged that he is ready to battle against Dahal and Bhattarai—regardless of constituencies—be the former's stronghold Ropla and or the latter's Gorkha. He claimed that the UCPN (Maoist) have lost hopes to battle in the election after the party split.
Thapa said that his party is ready to compete with Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman and former Nepali Congress leader Mahanta Thakur.
Addressing the inauguration of Nepal Teachers' Association Dhankuta on Friday, Thapa said that the Maoists have been conspiring against election s in April-May 20013.
He urged the NC leadership not to be lured the authoritarian ploy of UCPN (Maoist). He further said that his party is more serious about institutionalising democracy rather than power. He called on the people to become prepared for election s to Constituent Assembly, parliament and the local body.
