Anta Sports Nepal to open four new outlets


KAHTMANDU, DEC 20 -

Anta Sports Nepal, a franchise store of the popular Chinese sports brand Anta, plans to open four new outlets within the Kathmandu valley.

According to the company, its new showrooms will be located at Anta Tower, Durbarmarg; KL Tower, Chuchchepati; Jawalakhel, Lalitpur; and Pipalbot, Boudha. While the Jawalakhel store will open next week, other three outlets will be launched by March, 2013. The store also plans to expand to Pokhara and Biratnagar by the next year.

Currently, Anta Sports Nepal sells its products from its five outlets at Jyatha, Thamel; Anta Building, Bhatbhateni; Saraswoti Nagar, Kapan; Dillibazaar and Sohrakhutte.

The company said they came up with the ‘aggressive’ expansion plan after witnessing a ‘huge demand’ for their products. “We have a large number of return customers,” said Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa, chief executive officer, of Anta.

Anta Sports Nepal, which started last year, said its focus was mainly on customer service. “We want establish a brand name through our quality service and reasonable price,” said Sherpa.

According to the company, the Hong Kong-based brand operates more than 8,000 showrooms in China alone. The brand is also popular in countries like France, Singapore, Italy and Vietnam. Its popularity rose further after the Olympics 2012, in which it endorsed the Chinese team, said Sherpa.

The store offers sportswear for both men and women. The products include running sets, basketball sets, tennis sets and cross-training (aerobics and yoga) sets. These sets consist of sports shoes, windcheaters, down jackets, trousers, shorts and track-suits. Besides, the store also sells accessories like bags, gloves, scarves and hats.

Sports shoes are available in the range of Rs 2,500 to Rs 9,000, while windcheaters are priced between Rs 3,200 and Rs 5,090. Similarly, track-suits cost from Rs 5,249 to Rs 5,679; trousers are available for Rs 2,400 to Rs 3,099; shorts are priced at around Rs 1,549. Down jackets are available for Rs 4,600 to Rs 9,000.

The store also sells perfumed cross-training tops for women. The company claims that the fragrance will last until 20 washes. “The product is useful during physical exercise,” he said.

On the occasion of Christmas and New Year, Anta Sports is offering up to 60 percent discount on its products.
