KATHMANDU, DEC 12 -
Shiwa Hasami, who was set on fire by an Indian man for turning down his proposal to elope, died during the course of treatment at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Ninety percent of Hasami's body was badly burnt after the Indian man, Babu Khan, 23, set her on fire by pouring petrol in Bardiya on Sunday morning. She was airlifted to Kathmandu and admitted to the Bir Hospital on Monday but showed little improvement.
Doctors involved in her treatment had said that there was a faint hope of her survival because vital organs of her body had stopped functioning.
Hasmi was receiving free treatment at the hospital due the poor economic condition of her family.
