DEC 11 - With only two days left for the deadline given by the president for national consensus government to end, the UCPN (Maoist) leaders on Tuesday decided to exhibit utmost flexibility for sake of consensus.
The meeting, which had convened at Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Lazimpat in the Capital on Tuesday, also concluded that the elections need to be held within May next year.
The major opposition parties – Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML – are not in terms with UCPN (Maoist) as the ruling coalition leaders rejected the nomination of NC President Sushil Koirala as the leader of the national consensus government.
Moreover, the UCPN (Maoist) leaders have also projected to expand the current government led by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai into a national consensus government. This has further complicated the political deadlock. They have also asked the opposition parties to recommend other candidates for the premiership rather than Sushil Koirala.
