NC activists padlock PU

BIRATNAGAR, DEC 05 -

The Nepal Student Union (NSU) padlocked the Purbanchal University (PU) for an indefinite period on Tuesday, demanding the appointment of the registrar from among university employees and lecturers.

The Nepali Congress student union joined hands with university employees and lecturers, who have been agitating for the past two days, protesting the university’s vice-chancellor’s (VC) preparations to recommend a person from outside the university for registrar. The unions claimed that the VC’s preparations breaches an agreement with VC Maheshwor Man Shrestha four years ago, wherein an agreement was reached to pick a person

for the post only from among university employees and

lecturers.
