Students halt protest
33 percent discount to students and poor
KATHMANDU, FEB 02 -
Protest called by youth organisations and student unions, against the price hike on petroleum products, have been halted since Thursday evening.
Youth and students withdrew their protest after prime minister committed to provide 33% discount on diesel, kerosene, and cooking gas to poor, marginalised and students.
Former chairman of the Nepal students union Pradip Poudel said, “Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has committed for this. Decision has also been made to establish a working panel for the same. Therefore, we have withdrawn all our protest programs for now.”
