Govt submits SRC report to CA Chair
SRC report has added confusion: Poudel
KATHMANDU, FEB 02 - The government on Thursday submitted the report of State Restructuring Commission (SRC) to Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai handed over the SRC report to CA Chairman Nembang at his office in Singha Durbar.
Amid protests, the SRC led by Madan Pariyar submitted two separate reports to the government on Tuesday.
After the submission of report, PM Bhattarai said the commission worked hard to prepare the report. “The commission has given suggestion for major issues, which is productive,” said the prime minister. “The report has been prepared scrupulously no matter how it was publicised in the media.”
Though two separate reports—one by a majority group another by minority—were submitted, the contents of the reports should be taken into account. He added the report would move ahead as per the procedure after it is discussed in the Constituent Assembly.
SRC report has added confusion: Poudel
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel remarked that the report submitted by the SRC has further complicated the matter.
“The report has made it complicated,” said Poudel, talking to reporters after the CA meeting. “We expectations of getting the things easy could not be met. But it became more confusing.”
He added the reports would be discussed at the CA, Constitutional Committee and Dispute Resolution Sub-committee. Nepali Congress is against the report tabled by the majority group of the SRC.
The majority group of SRC—backed by Malla K Sundar, Bhogendra Jha, Stella Tamang, Krishna Hacchethu, Surendra Mahato and Chairman Madan Pariyar—has proposed an 11-state model with 19 Articles. And the separate report forwarded by the minority group has pitched for a six-state model with 17 articles.
