Postplatform: The new woman
Nepali women today are on the doorstep of a major breakthrough. Gender equality has spread its message across the country, especially among the urban middle and lower classes. All the families are giving higher education to their daughters and sons equally. Women are earning huge incomes through salaries or profits in their own business ventures. Most governmental agencies, the private sector and banks encourage women to earn their personal wealth and improve not only their own lives, but also those of their families.
Today, with women being liberated from old stereotypes and successive governments falling all over themselves to be seen as liberal
in granting and guaranteeing women
their rights, society is seeing a drastic shift in gender roles. Women are leaving the kitchen and home and taking up challenges outside whether they are educated or not. Today, women have absolute domination in banking, tourism, the hotel sector and the pavement business.
I think that today what a woman earns hardly matters, but how she saves and invests her income into profit earning businesses matters the most. She must look at her goals holistically and create a unique model for herself so that all her needs are satisfied. In my opinion, a woman should consider three factors regarding her wealth acquisition. The first and most important is health — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If a woman is not healthy in all these ways, wealth building gets stymied; and she does not achieve her full potential however talented she may be.
The second factor is relationships. A huge number of women, even in the highest echelons of society, get embroiled in painful experiences in relationships or abusive marriages and dwell on the past or the future to end up with depressive mindsets. They cannot concentrate on the present. This also is a hurdle to wealth building. The third aspect is goal setting and making correct efforts to achieve them realistically.
New age financial consultants help their clients to resolve such problems in the three areas by offering them as many options as possible to change their lives.
Today, speed-of-light lifestyles leave
wealth-builders with stress and trauma because, in the final analysis, all problems are related to money or products of money. Money is the driving force of modern life because people’s independence, lifestyle, social status, relationship and self-worth depend on their wealth-creating ability. So if this aspect is set right, other problems have better chances of being resolved. And women of the new generation understand it very well.
