TANAHU, JAN 27 -

Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun on Friday said that it was government's obligation to hike the prices of petroleum products.

Inaugurating the 7th general convention of Nepal Magar Students Union on Friday, Pun said that Nepali government was compelled to hike the prices of the petroleum products due to the increase in prices in the international market.

Saying that even after the price hike, the government is still in loss, the minister said the price could not be rolled back.

Furthermore, Pun said that as a finance minister he is ready to discuss reducing the government aid given to big hotel and factories to increase aid to the students and other poorer consumers.

Moreover, he said that a federal state is necessary to secure the rights of the marginalised people.
