Birth anniversary of martyr Mathema marked

The 99th birth anniversary of Martyr Dharma Bhakta Mathema was observed on the fourth day of the Martyrs' Week in the capital today.
The Kathmandu Metropolis organised a function at Sifal where participants offered floral tributes at the statue of martyr Mathema.
At the function, Chief Executive Officer at the Metropolis Kedar Bahadur Adhikari said that Nepali people are now free as the martyrs including Methema sacrificed their life against the then Rana regime.
Similarly, daughter of martyr Mathema, Renu Mathema stated that it was necessary that the government should help make martyrs known to the people.
Mathema was born on Asoj 10, 1966 BS at Ombahal in Kathmandu. He was physical training master of the then King Tribhuvan.
He was hanged to death by the then Rana rulers on Magh 13, 1997 for spreading democratic awareness to the people. RSS
