KATHMANDU, JAN 26 -

The All Nepal Football Association on Wednesday named 36 players for the preliminary selection round for the AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Kathmandu from March 8-19.

Beside the 20 regulars who were in the team for the SAFF Championship in New Delhi, 16 new faces have made it to the list. Kiran Chemjong, Bikash Malla, Ritesh Thapa, Sagar Thapa, Sandeep Rai, Rohit Chand, Rabin Shrestha, Biraj Maharajan, Bikash Singh Chhetri, Deepak Bhusal, Raju Tamang, Bhola Silwal, Bijay Gurung, Sujal Shrestha, Jagajeet Shrestha, Anil Ojha, Bharat Khawas, Jumanu Rai, Santosh Sahukhala and Anil Gurung have been featured once again.

Manang goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha is a new addition. A new defensive player, Sabindra Shrestha has been called in.

The disappointing show by the striking lineup in the SAFF Championship has made the selectors to keep more forwards in hand. The newly selected players in the position include, Nirajan Malla, Jitendra Karki, Tanka Basnet, Parbat Pandey, Tek Bahadur Budathoki, Rupesh KC, Raju Yogi, Kunjan Gurung, Ramesh Katuwal, Bishal Rai ‘A’, Bishal Rai ‘B’ and Ganesh Lawati.
