KATHMANDU, JAN 23 -
The Ninth event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour, Surya Nepal NPGA Match Play tee off at Royal Nepal Golf Club on Monday. Top 16 professionals who are in the order of merit of season 2010-11 are will vie for the prestigious which will run for three days.
All match play events will be over 18 holes except the final, which will be played over 36 holes. First round, 8 matches and 4 quarter final matches will be played on 23rd of January. Semi final matches will be played on 24th January and the final match will be played on the last day. Match to decide the third place will also be played on the final day.
Nepal no 1 Shivaram Shrestha will face CB Bhandari, whereas defending Champion Ram Thapa will face Pashupati Sharma. Veteran Deepak Thapa Magar will face Deepak Acharya and Ramesh Nagarkoti is playing with Deepak Neupane. Rabi Khadka will have his match against Tham Bahadur Rai of Dharan and his fellow player from Dharan Mani Rai will face Surya Sharma. Sanjay Lama is playing against Jayaram Shrestha and Rajan Thapa playing against Umesh Nagarkoti.
Winner of the tournament will receive a cheque of Rs 50,000 Runner up will receive Rs 30,000. Third place will earn Rs 22000 and Fourth place will get Rs 18000.
Four quarter finalist will get Rs 10,000/- each and 8 first round players will also get 5,000/- each. The total purse for the event is Rs 200,000/-
