KATHMANDU, JAN 23 -

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has urged main opposition party Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala to assist in resolving political deadlock.

Prime Minister Bhattarai reached Koirala's residence in Maharajgunj on Monday morning and urged to hold talks and dialogues to resolve crisis.

The NC and the UML have been avoiding dialogues with the government time and again claiming the government’s decision to legalise the transactions made by the Maoist-run parallel administration during the decade-long conflict was a mistake, in principle.

Following the deadlock, the prime minister has intensified consultations with the political leaders. He had made a phone call to Koirala on Sunday as well.

During the meeting, the prime minister urged the NC president to move ahead forging consensus to conclude the peace process.

During the meeting, Koirala condemned the government’s act of legalising the transactions, sources confirmed.
