NPC dominate individual awards

(1 Vote)

BUTWAL, JAN 23 -

League champion Nepal Police Club (NPC) spellbinding performance in the Redbull National League saw them dominate the award category as well. Of the five award categories, NPC members bagged four of the honours, including best coach (Birat Krishan Shrestha), best goalkeeper (Ritesh Thapa), best midfielder (Bhola Silwal) and best striker (Bharat Khawas).

Coach (Birat Krishna Shrestha)

Shrestha’s side won the league without losing a single match. If an analysis is done on the achievements attained in Nepali football, then it would not be dubious to assert that Birat Krishna Shrestha is the most successful coach since past the five years as NPC have won four leagues trophies—one National League and three Martyrs Memorial A division Leagues—under his guidance. No other coaches have tasted recurring successes other than him.

Midfielder (Bhola Silwal)

Playmakers Parbat Pandey and Bhola Silwal contribution in the triumph of NPC is immense but Pandey’s absence in the two vital matches made Silwal the front runner.

Striker (Bharat KhSawas)

Bharat Khawas faced a tough competition from his team-mate Jumanu Rai, Sushil KC of NRT, Ganesh Lawati of Sangam Club and Navayug Shrestha of Army. If the honour was to be given going by the highest number of goals Navayug Shrestha would have no competition, but a lot of other aspects plays an important role. Assist is clearly the chief factor and Khawas met the criteria

easily, having a hand in most of NPC’s goals.

Goalie (Ritesh Thapa)

Ritesh Thapa of NPC won the honours for having the maximum number of clean sheets. Thapa let in just three goals in nine matches.

Defender ( Sandeep Rai)

Sandeep Rai was the only player from outside the Police squad to grab one of the five honour. Besides, his defensive abilities, the Manang stalwart’s is equally dangerous in handling dead ball. His goal from a free-kick in the tournament can easily be rated as the best goal of tournament.

All the winners were felicita-ted with a Yamaha two wheeler.
