DIG Koirala confesses to killing wife
KATHMANDU, JAN 22 -
Armed Police Force (APF) DIG Ranjan Koirala has confessed to killing his wife during a police interrogation, sources claim.
A joint team of Kathmandu Police Range and Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Sunday arrested Koirala from Nagdhunga on suspicion of his involvement in the murder. He was entering the Capital from outside the Valley.
Koirala’s wife Gita Dhakal had gone missing since January 11. Two days ago police had recovered a body in Palunga of Makwanpur district.
Police arrested DIG Koirala based on intelligence inputs that DIG Koirala had reached the incident site.
SSP duo Devendra Subedi and Rajendra Shrestha are interrogating Koirala at Hanumandhoka.
Earlier, police had refused to register a case filed by Dhakal’s relatives against Koirala saying that no significant evidence had been found against him. Koirala claimed that they had been living separately for over ten years.
