CA set to okay revised calendar
KATHMANDU, JAN 06 - The Constituent Assembly (CA) is all set to endorse the revised calendar that allows the party until January 29 for resolving the contentious issues.
In its meeting to be held on Friday, the assembly will also form a committee to draft the amendment to the CA Rules of Procedures, 2008. The amendment will introduce the process of forwarding the report of the State Restructuring Commission to the Constitutional Committee.
It will also suggest a way forward on preparation of the first draft in regards to contentious issues that fail to garner a simple majority in the CA. The constitutional issues that could not be resolved by January 29 deadline, would be put for vote at the CA, according to the calendar revised on Wednesday.
CA Chairman Subas Nembang held discussions with the chief whips of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML on Thursday regarding the future roadmap of constitution making. The parties have committed to resolving the contentious issues and starting the process of preparing the first draft of the constitution together.
