DHANGADI, JAN 05 -

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar has said that the political parties should first put forward the names of candidates for the post of prime minister of the national consensus government.

Speaking to media persons in Dhangadi Airport on Thursday, Gachhaddhar reckoned that the opposition parties—Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML—should name the candidate to lead the national consensus government if it could not be formed under Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s leadership.

He informed that Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM), an alliance of five Madhes based political parties, backed the present coalition to be shaped as a national consensus government since an irreversible progress was seen in the peace process and statute drafting process during its tenure.

Stating that the peace process would be concluded only after the combatants of UCPN (Maoist) were vacated from their cantonments, Gachhadhar said the hard-line faction of the Maoist party, which had recaptured the returned property, would be ejected from the captured property by the use of force.

Gachhadhar, also looking after the Defense Ministry, was in the district to inaugurate a Tharu museum in Ghoda Chadi Simsar area.
