Pak man nabbed with fake dollars
KATHMANDU, JAN 04 -
Police rounded up a Pakistani national with counterfeit dollars from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday evening.
The arrestee, identified as Mohamad Iqbal, had arrived in Kathmandu from the Pakistani city of Karachi. Airport security officials detained him with his passport (AK333373) from the customs after discovering fake American dollars worth $5,400 in the denomination of 100.
According to DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range, the counterfeit notes were found hidden in a false pocket of his
luggage during the regular check up.Iqbal landed in Kathmandu to hand
over the consignment and disperse the notes in the Kathmandu Valley. Police are preparing to book him under a felony charge. He has been kept at the range for further investigation. Though fake Indian and Nepali currencies are found time and again, cases of counterfeit dollars are not common in Nepal.
