Maoists CC meet postponed
KATHMANDU, DEC 31 -
The Central Committee meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) has been postponed on Saturday after party secretary CP Gajurel was bereaved following the demise of his mother.
Gajurel’s mother, Tek Kumari Gajurel, 86, died on Friday night.
The party CC members were busy on heated ideological debate yesterday with both sides accusing each other of deviating from the party line.
It was reported that the party was heading for a split with the hardliners intensifying attacks on the party establishment.
Some leaders of all three factions, however, are discussing possible ways to avoid the split. This includes offering Mohan Baidya the post of acting chairman, fielding Ram Bahadur Thapa as PM candidate, and tolerating hardliners' parallel party structure.
