Maoist hardliners advise Dahal to bring new proposal
KATHMANDU, DEC 30 -
The hard-line faction of the UCPN (Maoist), led by Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya, has advised the party chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, to bring forth a new proposal.
Maoist central members loyal to Baidya, at the ongoing Central Committee (CC) meeting of the party, advised the chairman to bring new political proposal, party politburo member Dharmendra Bastola informed.
“Chairman’s proposal can’t fulfil the people’s desire for peace and revolution,” he said. “We are confident that the chairman would bring in new proposal based on the new spirit of Palungtar plenum.”
However, the establishment faction supposedly close to Dahal said the chairman’s proposal was right and should be endorsed by the CC meet. They said Dahal’s proposal would be passed through a majority—if not unanimously.
“Most probably, the chairman’s proposal would be endorsed,” said Shakti Basnet, who is loyal to Dahal. “If that could not happen, then the proposal would be endorsed through majority, because that’s what the democratic management is.”
Senior Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya, who have been criticising each and every move of taken by the party establishment in recent times, had tabled a different proposal at the party CC meet, expressing dissatisfaction over the peace and constitution line of Chairman Dahal. On the other hand, Baidya has been advocating for “people’s revolt”.
