Maoists CC meet underway
KATHMANDU, DEC 28 -
The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) is underway at party headquarters in Parishdanda on Wednesday.
The meeting was deferred for today after hardliner Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya put forth a separate political document.
Earlier, Baidya faction had put forth its document contrasting to the one presented by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on ‘Developed crisis and solution.’
The Baidya faction had flatly rejected party Chairman Dahal’s formula proposed to patch up the internal differences surfaced in the party.
In his document, Dahal had prioritised peace and constitution, stating that the party’s attempt in the past to capture the state powers failed. The hardliner blamed that Dahal abandoned the line of revolt by party’s sixth plenum last year.
The Baidya faction had concluded that Dahal’s document was aimed at splitting the party instead of consolidating it as claimed by Dahal.
Dahal had proposed laying the groundwork for the general convention, the highest authority in the party.
The Baidya faction argues there is no meaning of holding the convention without "correcting" the party's moves, including the decision on integration and rehabilitation of former combatants.
