KATHMANDU, DEC 26 -

The UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee meeting has been put off once again on Monday citing busy schedule of party committee members.

The CC members said they deferred the meeting as the leaders had to attend the programme organised to mark the 119th Mao’s birth anniversary.

The hard-line faction led by Mohan Baidya was due to put-forth its separate political document contrasting to the one presented by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on ‘Developed crisis and solution,’ last Saturday.

Earlier, the Baidya faction had flatly rejected party Chairman Dahal's formula proposed to patch up the internal differences.

In his document, Dahal had prioritised peace and constitution, stating that the party's attempts in the past to capture the state powers failed. The hardliner blamed that Dahal abandoned the line of revolt adopted by the party's sixth plenum last year.

Earlier, the Baidya faction had concluded that Dahal's document was aimed at splitting the party instead of consolidating it as claimed by Dahal.

Dahal had proposed laying the groundwork for the general convention, the highest authority in the party.

The Baidya faction argues there is no meaning of holding the convention without "correcting" the party's moves, including the decision on integration and rehabilitation of former combatants.

The meeting has been summoned again on Tuesday.
