Patriotic govt needed: Gen Secy Thapa
DEC 26 - UCPN (Maoist) General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa remarked that Baburam Bhattarai-led government does not represent the people and underscored the need for what he called a "patriotic government".
During a program, organised by Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya’s faction, to mark the birth anniversary of Mao Zedong at Basantapur on Monday, Thapa stressed on the need of a new government. “This government is unable to conclude peace and constitution, therefore, a patriotic government should be formed,” he added.
Thapa said that in the name of envisioning peace, the government is making up a fault situation. Hinting towards party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, he said that some ‘stupid people’ within the party have sown the seed of rift in the name of unity.
Likewise, Standing Committee member Netrabikram Chand accused the government of working under foreign influence. Stating that the government is trying to cheat the people, Chand said, “Another revolution would be initiated, if this continues.”
The program only saw the presence of cadres from Baidya’s factions
