KATHMANDU, DEC 25 -

Police arrested three youths with a time bomb from Tokha, Kathmandu, on Friday night. Based on intelligence inputs, police arrested Rajin Lo Tamang, 20, of Jagatpur-6, Chitwan, Shyam Giri, 18, of Dharan, Sunsari and Dhiraj Khatiwada of Dhapasi-4.

They were arrested from the house of Amar Dangol, which they have long been using for the purpose.

“They have planted the bomb in a watch. It is so powerful that it would have caused a huge damage had they fitted it somewhere,” said DSP Jagadish Pokhrel, of Maharajgung Police Range.

According to Pokharel, this is the same group which planted a bomb at the entrance

of United Mission to Nepal’s office in Thapathali. Police also found pamphlets of Nepal Defense Army and some weapons from the room.

Nepal Defence Army is an underground outfit responsible for setting off bombs at Assumption Church in Lalitpur on May 23, 2009 that killed three persons and at the entrance of United Mission to Nepal office in Thapathali last month.

It also carried out explosions at Nepali Congress (NC) office in Sanepa, then Maoist office in Buddhanagar, Kantipur Publications office in Biratnagar and other places in the past.

Police said they are investigating to confirm their attachment with Nepal Defence Army.
