Nat’l league in Butwal, Pokhara

KATHMANDU, DEC 21 -

A meeting between the participating clubs of the Martyrs’ Memorial Redbull ‘A’ Division National Football League and the Anfa on Tuesday have decided to hold the first 22 matches of the league in Pokhara and the reaming matches in Butwal.

The football governing body will be providing travel, fooding and lodging expenses to all the 10 participating clubs, said Anfa in a press statement.

The participating clubs also agreed to make their national players available for the closed camp session for the AFC Challenge Cup to be held in May next year after the accomplishment of the league.

Besides the eight top flight teams from Kathmandu, including Nepal Police Club, Manang Marshyangdi Club, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Three Star Club, Himalayan Sherpa, RCT, NRT and Army, Mitra Milan Club from Sunsari and Sangam Club from Kaski are the new additions. The two new entrants have made it to the final round following wins in their respective zonal leagues.

A match between Manang and new boys Mitra Milan will raise the curtains of the inaugural national league, while in the second match of the day holders Nepal Police will entertain another new entrants Sangam Club.

Meanwhile, Mahabir Club defeated Chyasal Youth Club 3-2 in the on-going Red Bull ‘B’ Division League played at the Maharajgunj football ground on Tuesday. In another match, Gyanbhairab Club registered a 1-0 win against Kathmandu Club.

Santosh Ghale struck twice in the 73rd and 81st minutes and Tarjan Thapa netted a goal in the 41st minute for the winning team.
