NC cadre take it to street against leadership direction
KATHMANDU, DEC 18 -
Cadres of Nepal Student Union (NSU), sister wing of Nepali Congress (NC), have blocked the roads in the various parts of the capital against the party directive on Sunday morning. The cadres are protesting the death of NC-affiliated Tarun Dal Chitwan Chairman Shiva Prasad Poudel.
NSU cadres blocked the roads in front of Tri Chandra, Pashupati and Tahachal Campus creating a horde of vehicles in those places. Police Inspector Bipin Poudel informed that the vehicular movement in those places were obstructed due to the hurdles created by the students who hit it to the street without warning.
“The traffic was a chaos in those places as students came to the streets without any information,” he said.
NC has called for a strike on Monday, however, the cadres and students affiliated to NC had blocked the roads even on Saturday protesting the death of Poudel who succumbed to his injuries at the Neuro Hospital in the capital on Saturday morning.
Likewise, cadres and students affiliated to the party have also obstructed the roads in Chitwan. However, NC district Secretary Devendra Gurung informed that NC does not have any programs of strike in the district.
The body of Sharma will be cremated in Chitwan today after taking a rally around the city.
Meanwhile, office bearers meeting of the party is underway at party President Sushil Koirala’s residence in Maharajgunj today. The meeting has been dwelling upon the all-round pressure to call off the strike.
Poudel, who was injured in Chitwan Prison attack, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu on Saturday morning.
