Poudel’s family to get Rs 1m
NC urged to call off Monday bandh
KATHMANDU, DEC 17 - The government has formed a commission to investigate into the alleged murder of Nepali Congress (NC)-aligned Nepal Tarun Dal Chitwan district President Shiva Poudel.
The Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu on Saturday evening formed the commission under the coordination of former Justice Mohan Sitaula. DSP Bigyanraj Sharma and joint-advocate Krishna Prasad Poudel are the members of the commission.
Expressing grief over the demise of Poudel, the government has also decided to hand over Rs 1million to the Poudel’s family.
Likewise, the Cabinet has also urged the main opposition NC to withdraw the general strike on Monday.
Earlier today, the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the NC had called for a general strike on Monday, protesting against the alleged murder of Poudel.
Poudel was critically injured in Chitwan Prison attack on Dec 6 and was undergoing treatment at the Neuro Hospital in the Capital this morning. He breathed his last this morning.
