Limbuwan strike hits hard on eastern region
KHADBARI, DEC 11 -
Daily life in the eastern region of the country has been affected since morning because of the strike called by Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSC) on Sunday. The strike was called to protest against the exclusion of their representation in the State Restructuring Commission (SRC).
Representatives from nine districts in the eastern region called on the general strike stating that the government did not abide by the 3-point deal made with the FLSC on March 19, 2008. The third point of the agreement states that the government would appoint a Limbuwan representative in the SRC.
All the daily aspects – transport, educational institutes, offices and so on – have come to a halt. Shankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Sunsari, Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam and Jhapa have been affected more.
The FLSC representatives are on the streets making sure that the people abide by the strike.
