NOC hikes diesel, kerosene price for bulk purchasers
KATHMANDU, DEC 11 -
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on Saturday hiked the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 16 to Rs 92 per litre for bulk purchasers—hotels, factories and diplomatic missions, among others.
The oil monopoly has kept the price for general people intact at Rs 76 per litre. “Only those purchasing over 3000 litres at a time will have to pay more,” said Suresh Kumar Agrawal, officiating managing director at NOC. “As per the new rate, neither we incur loss nor make profit.”
For the general public, NOC has been providing petroleum products at subsidized rates. Amid consumer activists complaints about putting both rich and poor people into the same basket, NOC’s latest move is aimed at addressing this concern. NOC had last hiked the petroleum price on October 10.
