UML bid to unite party
KATHMANDU, DEC 08 -
In an effort to bridge differences between two senior leaders in the party, efforts are being made in the CPN-UML to bring Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and leader KP Oli together.
In a meeting between the two sides on Wednesday, leaders offered each side “respectable positions” including membership of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
According to a leader who attended the meeting, both the sides discussed providing CA memberships to leaders such as Oli, Bam Dev Gautam and Amrit Bohora. According to party leader Ghanshyam Bhusal, it was felt that Oli, who lost the CA polls, needed to be given an “appropriate” position. The relations between the two leaders had turned sour after Khanal was elected party chairman some three years ago.
