Five more suspended over Chitwan Prison attack
BHARATPUR, DEC 07 -
District Police Office, Chitwan, on Wednesday suspended five more police officials citing their negligence while performing their duty at Chitwan Prison where the inmates attacked Nepali Congress youth leaders.
Sub-Inspector Shiva Raj Chhetri, Constable Ram Balak Prasad Yadav, security guards of the prison Bishnu Ram Sharki, Pashupati Khatiwada, and Felama Tamang were suspended by the DPO, Chitwan.
Earlier on Tuesday, Jailer Chunamadi Poudel and Chitwan Police Chief Khilu Acharya were also suspended by the government following strong protests by the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC).
A group of inmates in Chitwan Prison had perpetrated a daring attack targeting Shiva Prasad Poudel, leader of NC youth wing Nepal Tarun Dal, who was on a custodial remand.
NC-aligned Nepal Tarun Dal President Shiva Prasad Poudel, Pradip Bhatta, Madan Pariyar, Hari Gurung and Badri Dhungana suffered serious injuries in the attack
