Maoist intra-party rift mere drama: Gagan Thapa
KAVRE, DEC 07 -
Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Gagan Thapa said that the intra-party rift within the UCPN (Maoist) is an orchestrated show. He said that Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya would ultimately join hands.
Inaugurating the 13th General Assembly of Kavre chapter of Press Union on Wednesday, Thapa said that although the Maoist has expressed commitment towards peace and constitution, the party has not yet discarded its struggle for capturing power.
“Maoist intra-party is merely a drama. Dahal’s statement to seize state power, even after his commitment to work for peace and constitution, proves his betrayal,” said Thapa.
Thapa accused the Maoist party of becoming the richest proletariat party across Asia by swindling billions of rupees from the government in the name of fake combatants. He further said that Nepal’s development was yanked back decades because of the insurgency.
Stating that the administration was involved in the conspiracy of the Chitwan prison attack, Thapa said that the administration authorities turned deaf ear towards the Tarun Dal District Chairman’s plea for security.
“We could have given refuge to Poudel as CPN-UML and Maoist have given refuge to Parsuram Basnet and Bal Krishna Dhungel, but we sent him to prison claiming that he should be punished if he is guilty,” said Thapa
