KATHMANDU, DEC 05 -

American Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi has expressed his concern about the valley strike called by Youth Association Nepal (YAN), sister-organisation of CPN-UML, for Tuesday.

‘I worry very much when organizations, especially those associated with democratic political parties, threaten intimidation and violence to enforce their political viewpoints,’ DeLisi wrote in his Facebook status on Monday.

‘Whether the grievance is legitimate or not, using violence to deny others the right to live their lives, go to work, attend school, or move freely cannot be tolerated,’ it further stated.

YAN has called for valley strike on Tuesday protesting misappropriation of the resources in Youth and Small Enterprises Self-Employment Fund (YSESEF) and suppression of its cadres.

‘I hope the UML Youth Force will respect in practice the democratic values they espouse in principle and I hope that the UML party leadership will make clear to its student wing that violence is not an acceptable choice,’ DeLisi further stated.
