UML men clash with cops
KATHMANDU, DEC 05 -
Tension flared up at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday afternoon when cadres of CPN-UML aligned Youth Association Nepal (YAN) clashed with police personnel.
The situation quickly turned nasty when the police intervened in YAN’s demonstration staged to prevent the movement of Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun who was heading towards his office after his arrival from South Korea.
According to police, they were forced to resort to lathicharge in view of a possible clash between YCL and YAN cadres. YCL cadres were present at the TIA to welcome Minister Pun.
DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh said around one dozen people, including two constables, were injured in the clash. YAN activist torched a jeep belonging to the Department of Road and vandalised two vehicles of the Department of Education and BP Memorial Planetarium.
