KATHMANDU, DEC 04 -
A jewellery worker was killed in cold blood in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, on Friday night.
Juju Kaji Bajracharya, 25, worker of a jewellery store run by Dinesh Shakya at his own house, was killed by unidentified men, police said. His body was found inside the shop on Saturday morning.
Maharjan was found dead with his hands and legs tied. Police suspected he was murdered by robbers, who had intended to rob the store. Perceiving Bajracharya as a tacit threat, the robbers could have killed him and fled the scene, said police officers, who are investigating the cold blooded killing.
Police said the looters fled the scene without looting the shop and admitted it will further complicate the preliminary investigation process. The close circuit television camera installed in the shop was severed from its main system by the perpetrators, said police, adding that the alarm system was also been rendered unusable.
Bajracharya, a cousin of the jewellery shop owner, had been guarding the store for the past 12 years. He used to stay at the shop during nighttime, while Shakya used to sleep on the first floor where the store is. Sometimes Bajracharya had lived in a nearby house. Police, who had gained no lead on the case till the daytime, said in the evening they made three arrests in connection with the murder. The arrestees are, however, identified only as preliminary suspects. The body of the deceased was taken for post-mortem by the time the area around Pulchowk had slipped into a mourning mood. The incident site is nearby the Metropolitan Police Sector, Pulchowk. Police, quoting the post mortem report, said he was hit to death.
