MoE secretary resigns over transfer dissatisfaction
KATHMANDU, DEC 04 - Secretary at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Shankar Pandey resigned on Sunday, expressing dissatisfaction over his "disrespectful transfer."
The Cabinet meeting on Nov 17 had transferred Secretary Pandey to the Prime Minister’s Office inplace of retired Secretary Gobinda Kusum Pandy. Panday was due to reitre after few months on January 3.
Pandey submitted his resignation letter to Chief Secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire today, citing personal reasons.
As per the Civil Service Act, the government cannot transfer those civil servants who have less than a year before compulsary retirement, without the concerned officer's consent.
However, the government took the decision without giving any pre-information to Pandey.
Meanwhile, the officials at the MoE bade farewell to Pandey today.
