Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Prakashman Singh has demanded that the UCPN (Maoist) return the state funds that they misused, showing fake number of cantoned Maoist fighters.
Stating that the Maoists have been misappropriating state funds collected from the taxpayers for the past five years, he demanded the Maoists return the misused money and answer the public about it.
“The Maoists should return the misused funds else the people will have to think of alternative measures,” said Singh, while inaugurating the municipal convention of the NC in Dhulikhel, Kavre, on Saturday.
Singh also ruled out any possibility of increasing the number of ex-Maoist combatants to be integrated into the Nepal Army. “NC will not accept the integration of even a single additional combatant. Only 6,500 former Maoist fighters will be integrated as per the spirit of the seven-point deal”. He also revealed that the NC was compelled to correct earlier agreements to placate the former rebels so that the peace process could be concluded.
