Mukherjee calls on PM Bhattarai, meets Pun

KATHMANDU , NOV 27 - Indian Minister for Finance Pranav Mukherjee paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at the latter's office in Singha Durbar, on Sunday.

During the meeting, the two held discussions on strengthening Nepal-India relationship and other issues of bilateral interests.

They also held talks on promoting economic cooperation and expanding trade between the two countries.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai informed Indian Minister Mukherjee about the ongoing peace and constitution writing processes in Nepal.

Minister for Finance of Nepal Barshaman Pun, Finance Secretary Krishnahari Banskota, Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad were also present on the occasion.

Pun-Mukherjee hold talks

Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun and his Indian counterpart Pranav Mukherjee held minister level talks at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, today.

The talks concentrated on the amended points of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA).

Minister Pun led the Nepali side and Indian Finance Minister Mukherjee led the Indian side during the talks.

Senior officers of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied Minister Pun during the talks.

Similarly, Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad and some officers of the Indian Embassy also participated in the talks.

Indian Finance Minister Mukherjee had arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning. RSS
