Mukharjee meets Prez, big three top guns

KATHMANDU , NOV 27 - Visiting Finance Minister of India Pranab Mukharjee called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, on Sunday afternoon.
On the occasion, matters relating to mutual cooperation and bilateral interests were discussed. Besides, the meeting also dwelt on the issues of Nepal-India relations.
Recalling his past visits to India, President Dr Yadav praised the cordial relations existing between the two neighbours.
Similarly, expressing happiness over the acceleration of the peace process, Minister Mukharjee said India always wanted to see peace, prosperity and political stability in Nepal.
"India is committed to extend possible support to Nepal which is passing through a historic transition", added the Indian Finance Minister.
Indian Finance Minister Mukhrjeee arrived here this morning.
Mukharjee also met with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala today. Following the meeting, NC President Koirala said the Indian side expressed interest in the peace process and constitution writing.
Parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the Indian side also inquired about extension of the constituent assembly term and works under peace process.
In response, they informed Indian side that though peace process and constitution writing were making headway to progress, the UCPN-Maoist was adamant on not returning seized properties, leader Poudel added.
Also attending the meeting were senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, and general secretaries Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Sitaula. RSS
Likewise, the Indian finance minister held separate meetings with Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leaders of the CPN-UML.
Following the meeting, Maoist Chairman Dahal said it was a courtesy call.
Similarly, KP Oli, after the meeting, told journalists that discussion was held on bilateral relations, peace process and constitution writing with Indian Minister Mukharjee.
Other leaders of the UML Bidya Bhandari and Bharat Mohan Adhikari had also attended the meeting between held between leader Oli and Indian minister Mukharjee.
