ITAHARI, NOV 23 -

UCPN (Maoist) General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ on Wednesday said party can split if efforts were not made to reconcile the ideological disagreement within the party.

Thapa was in Dharan for a training session to the leaders and workers of the Baidya faction. The training was conducted amongst tight security. Even the press was not allowed in the training, where Badal said the establishment faction’s activities were against the policies of the party during the insurgency.

If efforts are not made to seek consensus on basic issues by top leaders, the party can split, he said, adding there will be no rationale of staying in the party. “We do not want to split the party, but rather convince the party workers on the reality,” he said.

Stating that party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai have been moving ahead against the party policies and course of action, Thapa said that the main objective is to aware everyone about it.

He also said PLA was not of those seeking jobs but was of fighters who fought for the liberation of the Nepali people and it will be wrong if all fighters are integrated in the army.

Badal said one should not imagine of returning land unless the Nepali farmers and tillers are given the ownership of land through revolutionary land reform.

The Maoist General Secretary also warned that there would be a possibility of revolutionary leaders and workers opting for another people’s war if the present party leadership continued with reactionary decisions one after another.

We believe that the proletariat will aid the rebellion if the constitution does not favor them, said Badal.

Maoist leader CP Gajurel and other prominent leaders were also present in the training programme, where Gajurel also made strong criticism of the latest activities of the party leadership. RSS
