VAT bill scam: FM transfers key investigation officials
KATHMANDU, NOV 23 - In a move possibly triggered by political influence, the Ministry of Finance has transferred the chief investigation officer probing the VAT bill scam, among other top officials.
Finance Ministry on Wednesday transferred half a dozen joint secretaries, including Laxman Aryal—the main investigation officer looking into the VAT bill scam.
He has been made the Deputy Director General of Tax Department.
Likewise, Director General of Inland Revenue Department, Rajan Khanal, has also been transferred.
The transferred officials were the main responsible officers in busting the VAT bill scam where many top business organisations were found to be using fake VAT bills.
