No return of seized land sans alternative
BIRATNAGAR, NOV 22 - UCPN (Maoist) General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa has ruled out the possibility of returning the party-seized land unless the state arranges alternative to the occupants.
"Anyone who tries to return the seized land forcefully without alternative arrangement will be chased away if required," Thapa told reporters in Biratnagar, Morang, on Tuesday.
He claimed that party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed to return the seized properties only after arranging the alternative livelihood for the occupants who have been tilling the very land.
In another context, Thapa said the present government led by Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai could not be a national unity government. "The national unity government should be formed under the Maoist leadership. But there is no such situation to make the Bhattarai-led government a national unity one," said Thapa underscoring the need of national consensus government to draft new constitution and conclude peace process.
Thapa also said that the impending central committee meeting will find a solution to the intra-party disputes.
