Notorious robbers held

KATHMANDU, NOV 09 -

Police on Tuesday arrested four robbers, members of a group that had been robbing houses by holding family members at gunpoint.

 Sir Bahadur Tamang, 33, Bal Bahadur Rai, 41, Singha Raj Tamang, 27 and Khadga Singh Tamang, 38, were arrested from Bouddha by a unit of Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD).

Police also some recovered weapons, 12.5 grams of brown heroin, electronic equipment and jewelry from the arrestees.

The arrested quartet, along with other accomplices, had barged into the house of Jampa Lama in Kapan on August 22 and walked away with cash and valuables worth over Rs 4,000,000.

Police say at least one more case of robbery with the involvement of the arrested four has been documented while the actual amount looted by them may be in millions.

The dacoits have been handed over

to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu by the MPCD for further investigation. Police say they are also in hunt of the accomplices who operated along with the now arrested men.
