3 houses burgled, Rs 1.5m looted

KATHMANDU, OCT 31 -

Robbers broke into three houses and made off with property worth one and a half million rupees in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.

According to police, property worth Rs 1,362,500 was stolen from the house belonging to Sobha Kumari Thapa in Imadol, Lalitpur. Gold jewellery weighing over 46 tolas and cash Rs 10,000 was stolen when nobody was at her house between

9 pm to 11 pm.

Similarly, cash Rs 17,000 and other materials, including gold jewellery and a DVD player, was burgled from a room rented by Rabindra Gopal at the house of Radheshyam Manandhar at Dhalku-14. Thieves entered into Gopal’s room while he was away and fled away with property worth Rs 146,000.

In another case, silver jewellery and cash worth Rs 69,600 was looted from the house of Manoj Karki in Gaurighat. According to police, thieves broke into his room by breaking the door lock taking advantage of nobody’s presence.

Police said nobody has been arrested in connection with the looting cases.
