‘Maoists conspiring against Bhattarai’
DAMAK , OCT 25 - General Secretary of CPN-UML, Shankar Pokharel, remarked that the UCPN (Maoist) was in dilemma over whether or not to complete the peace process.
The UML leader said so speaking at a press meet organised by Jhapa chapter of Press Chautari in Damak on Tuesday.
Pokharel remarked that pessimism is gaining ground within the Maoists after they were compelled to accept the present situation as the achievement of their decade-long insurgency.
“Maoists are fearing that they could be swept away by the people after they had to be contented with the present situation as their achievement after shouting nationalist slogans and killing 14,000 people during 10-year long insurgency in the name of people's war,” Pokharel said.
He also said that Maoists were hatching a plot against Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to present him as a futile leader.
On the occasion, Pokharel informed that a nation-wide awakening campaign would be convened by calling for an assembly of National Representatives Council.
Pokharel, also a former Minister for Information and Communication, said that the Labor Act could not be implemented due to the Nepali media’s inability to undergo institutional development.
