No connection with RAW: Dahal
BARA, OCT 24 -
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal has refuted the allegations that he has links with India’s external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and said that the accusation was illogical.
Talking to media persons in Simara Airport, Bara district on Monday, the Maoist chair added that he has nothing to say if the Nepali people thinks he has connection with RAW.
Earlier on Thursday in Bharatpur, Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa had accused Dahal of visiting India’s Siliguri from Biratnagar in the name of personal visit and met RAW agents.
The Maoist chairman, however, expressed his confidence that his party would not split due to the internal feud.
Also, Dahal informed that the Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the Maoist, scheduled for Tuesday, would take up the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) signed between Nepal and India on Oct 21 for promoting Indian investment in Nepal and release the party’s official view on the same.
The hard-line faction of the Maoists has been strongly protesting against the singing of BIPPA during the recent India visit of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, citing it as being against the nation’s interests.
Dahal said the SC meet of the party would make the party’s official view on all these issues.
Dahal went to Birgunj from Simara to participate in a program organised to exchange greeting on the occasion of Nepal Sambat New Year, Deepawali (Tihar), Chhat and Eid festivals.
Girirajmani Pokhrel, among other Maoist leaders, accompanied Dahal to Birgunj. The party cadres extended a grand welcome to Dahal at Simara airport.
