Int'l forces fueling anti-China activities in Nepal: Chinese envoy

KATHMANDU, OCT 16 - Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan has accused “international forces” of fueling anti-China activities in Nepal against the development, peace and stability of his country. He said he has been scrutinizing anti-China activities.

Speaking at a programme organised at Reporter’s Club in the Captial on Sunday, Houlan lauded the positive role played by Nepal in the areas of China’s security concerns. He said Nepal has reaslised that that it’s a 'third party" that provokes anti-China activities in Nepal. 

 “No anti-China activities are taking place spontaneously in Nepal,” said Houlan. “There is the involvement of a third-party.” The Chinese envoy added that his country has been keeping an eye on every single activity against China.

 In response to reporters query regarding Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai’s maiden visit to India before China, Houlan said that just like the cordial relations between Nepal and India or Nepal and there is no complications between India and China. He underlined the need for the trilateral relations between Nepal, India and China should be in the equal interest of the three countries the three countries.

Saying that the Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation (APEC) was a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), he clarified that the project to be developed in Lumbini as a global centre for Buddhism study was a programme solely under the APEC. He urged everyone not to understand the project as Chinese interference.

However, China is ready to provide assistance to such projects in Nepal if the latter demands so, Houlan added.
